About the school breaks in Kalmar 2026
Christmas break, jullov, begins on Saturday December 19, 2026, and concludes on Thursday January 7, 2027. This 20-day period covers both the Christmas and New Year holidays. During the autumn term, students have an autumn break, höstlov, during week 44, lasting from Monday October 26 to Friday October 30. This break provides 5 consecutive days off. The autumn term starts on August 17, 2026, and ends on December 18, 2026, placing the start of the school year just before the autumn period begins. Every primary school also schedules two additional local professional development days. Because these specific dates differ between individual schools across the municipality, checking the website of the specific school is the best way to confirm when those days occur for your child.
