About the school breaks in Umeå 2026
Families with children in Umeå primary schools can look forward to two specific school breaks during the remainder of 2026. The autumn break, known as läslov, takes place during week 44. Pupils are off from Monday, October 26, through Friday, October 30. This provides a clear five day break in the middle of the autumn term.
The Christmas break, jullov, offers a longer period off that spans the turn of the year and totals 19 calendar days. This break begins on Monday, December 21, 2026, and concludes on Friday, January 8, 2027. During these weeks, covering week 52 and week 1, the schools are closed. Keep in mind that individual schools may schedule additional teacher training days throughout the term which affect when pupils are free from their studies.
