About the easter break

Why does the Easter break move?

Easter Sunday is the first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring equinox. That puts Easter anywhere between 22 March and 25 April, and the break moves with it. One year it can be in late March and the next in mid-April.

Before, after or around Easter

Each municipality decides how to place the break. Some have it the week before Easter Sunday, others the week after. A few start it on Easter Monday. Good Friday and Easter Monday are public holidays and do not count as break days.

Easter break and travel

Since municipalities pick different weeks, it is less crowded than the sports break. If your children go to different schools, for example one municipal and one independent, compare the dates early.
